Kerianne Severy
Music Together
Kerianne has her masters in teaching, a bachelors in mathematics and teaching, and minors in music, business, and psychology. Back in college, she wanted to be a music teacher, but it was the recession and music programs were getting cut from schools so she was counseled to teach mathematics for job security. She taught math for 9 years and is now at MAUSD as an instructional coach. While her teaching career has been secure and enjoyable, teaching music remains the job that got away. Teaching through MCMC is finally the dream realized!
Where have you taught? Where and what do you currently teach? Where has your teaching career taken you in the world and as a profession?
Kerianne has been a director for a children’s choir in Maine, director and music director for a children’s musical with Middlebury Community Players Foundations, and music director for musicals by Saco Middle School, Middlebury Community Players, and Town Hall Theater. She is one of the newest additions to the Middlebury Community Music Center’s Music Together faculty.
Where have you performed and with whom? What roles did you have in your performances? If performance has not been a big part of your musical career, what are your thoughts and/or philosophy about performing?
Kerianne has been singing in choirs since before she could read and doing community theater since she was 10 years old. She is a lover of the arts and a believer that you don’t have to make music for your day job to continue enjoying making music as an adult and share your talents with your community.
