Vanessa Dunleavy

Voice, Music Together®

I believe we were created to be creative. Every human being has something valuable to offer the world that is wholly their own. As an educator, my job is to help students discover their authentic voice and how to use it in a healthy, sustainable way. I do that by creating an environment of exploration and play. With my background in dance and yoga, my approach to the voice is holistic; singing is a whole-body experience. I believe that cultivating harmony between physicality, breath, and voice results in embodied expression. And the world needs more of that. Always.

Vanessa Dunleavy is a Mother, Singer, Dancer, Actor, 500-hour certified Yoga Teacher, Thai Masseuse Practitioner and Vocal Coach. Born and raised in Middlebury, VT, Vanessa was drawn to the performing arts from a young age. She honed her skills at Circle in the Square Theatre Conservatory, before beginning her professional career as an NYC based performer. Favorite performances include: Damn Yankees at Goodspeed Opera House, Legally Blonde at North Shore Music Theatre, Sweet Charity at Greater Boston Stage Company, and the Broadway national tour of Catch Me If You Can. In addition to her work on stage, Vanessa has also appeared in multiple independent films and commercials. Watch out, you might catch her selling you something you don’t need on TV!  In 2015, Vanessa teamed up with playwright Dana Yeaton (who is also her Father) to write My Post Traumatic Cruise Ship Cabaret, a one-woman musical that delves into the dark side of life on the high seas. In 2017, she collaborated with Miranda Ferris Jones (of Monkton, VT) to create Showing Up, a two-woman musical that looks at the complexities of female friendship. In 2020, a global pandemic (!!!) brought Vanessa and her husband back to her hometown of Middlebury. Their son Josiah was born in 2022. She now shares her love of movement and music with others through her home studio, where she offers yoga and voice lessons, as well as Thai Massage.
