Middlebury Community Music Center (MCMC) is a place where joy, connection, and transformation come to life through the power of music. Since 2014, we’ve been inspiring individuals of all ages, levels, and backgrounds with enriching private lessons, group classes, summer camps, and performance opportunities.
Our nonprofit community music center is seeking an Early Childhood Music Program Coordinator to join our team and help amplify our mission to foster joy, connectedness, and well-being through music. This part-time, hybrid role offers flexible hours and the chance to contribute creatively to our growth and outreach efforts.

Bonus: You have a bachelor's degree in music, music education, or a related field

MARKETING
Provide key administrative support for the early childhood program to increase enrollment in classes and grow the program at MCMC
Draft and edit current promotional email templates, website copy, and social media copy based on Music Together® guidelines to childcare centers, and prospective and previous families to inform them of the upcoming session
Engage in social media campaigns and with online communities
Post and send class fliers in key spots around the community
Build relationships with local partners and childcare centers to facilitate program growth
Provide grassroots marketing and cold calling to new schools/centers to gain interest in MTIS® program, Music Together® family classes, and Rhythm Kids® classes
Attend family events in the MTIS® program for the purpose of gaining re-enrollments in the program and supporting the work of the assigned music specialists at that location
Conduct post-class surveys to gain insight into effective marketing methods, teacher skills, customer satisfaction, and re-enrollment rates
Tour potential new sites for Music Together® family classes and Music Together In School® classes and makes recommendations to the Operations Director about those locations
Conduct market research on an ongoing basis to be educated about other early childhood programs in the state and the region
OPERATIONS
Schedule class session dates and demo classes based on feedback from the teachers in collaboration with the administrative team
Order class materials for teachers and families and submit class lists and projections in the Music Together database
Conduct an instrument and supplies inventory once per session and makes recommendations to Operations Director for new purchases
Manage all communication with schools participating in Music Together In School including mid-session check-ins, agreements, safety standards and expectations, and areas of support
Complete grant reports when grant funding sessions are under way
Serve as a liaison between Music Together LLC and MCMC to ensure smooth operations and that all points of the contract between MCMC and Music Together LLC are being upheld
Become well-acquainted with all information available in the Music Together Directors Only website including knowledge of the policies, guidelines of the Music Together®, Music Together In School®, and Rhythm Kids® classes
Support new teachers through the training and onboarding process, including sharing best practices, and attending all new-hires’ first class, and arranging ongoing mentorship
FULFILLMENT
Create, distribute, and synthesize survey data from families once per session to enhance the quality of the early childhood program by improving the family experience and educational outcomes
Gather and synthesize resources from Music Together to help inform and draft MCMC’s early childhood program delivery
Research and update FAQ’s for the early childhood program for the website and to distribute to families and teachers
Draft and edit current welcome email templates for early childhood teachers to use in their own communications to families
Coordinate ongoing professional development and training opportunities for teachers
Effectively set short and long term goals for the expansion and solidification of the Early Childhood Music Program
Plan and execute family-style community music events geared towards children in the Early Childhood Music Program age range (0-8)

The Middlebury Community Music Center summer camp counselor position is an opportunity to be an essential part of a dynamic, experiential music program for kids, ranging from ages 4-18, over the course of the summer, Monday - Friday, 9am-3pm from June 19 until August 25. Camp counselors play an essential day-to-day role in supporting our summer campers, the camp director and other staff. On the ground responsibilities include lively engagement in the daily programming, mentorship and emotional support to campers, and modeling important safety guidelines. Other responsibilities may include capturing digital media for storytelling and marketing purposes and event support for final camp performances.

MARKETING
Capture photos, testimonials, and special moments to use for social media copy creation for storytelling
Film final camp performance and upload video and any photos from week to google drive and notify media manager
OPERATIONS
Support our summer camp directors, campers, staff, and junior counselors
Be a liaison between camp families, directors, staff and our administrative team
Tidy and organize studios and common spaces before campers arrive
Greet and check in campers beginning of the day and check them out at the end of the day
Update supplies list for next week and let coordinator know what is needed
Clean and tidy kitchen and other common spaces
Attend daily team meetings
Office and household supply restock and inventory
Prep name tags, attendance sheet and other missing camp binder resources for next week's camp session
Prep for final performance like charging the camera, making the program, sourcing other materials
FULFILLMENT
Provide lively engagement in the daily programming, mentorship and emotional support to campers by modeling friendship and important safety guidelines
Lead lunchtime block with structured and unstructured activities
Assist with hands-on musical activities in line with the Camp Director’s plan for the day, modeling participation and enthusiasm.
Produce and stage manage the final show or concert at the end of each camp week.
