Join us at MCMC for group classes this year. Group classes are a great way to join in community around music. We look forward to adding new classes as we go, so please continue to check back here!

 
 

Standard Jazz and Improv

This class welcomes those interested in continuing their learning and developing of improvisation skills in the context of the great Jazz Standards of the American SongBook. Led by Bear Irwin.

Dates: 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/8 (9 sessions)
Time: 8 –9 pm
Prerequisites: Session 1 or the equivalent backgroud.

Winter Youth Chorus

A fun chorus experience for young people ages 8-13, grades 3-8.  If you have a child who loves to sing or wants to learn how to make music using their voice in the company of friends, this class is for you. This session focuses on Broadway! Led by Ali Gibson and Vanessa Dunleavy

Music Production Community Meet-up

Calling all community members who are interested in learning about songwriting, music production, and recording! Join us for MCMC's first music production community meet-up. Led by McLean Macionis and Adam Schatz.

Community String Ensemble

Community String Ensemble is a time for string players of all ages and abilities to play music with friends. Students are placed in small groups based on ability. Beginners focus on developing and refining technique, learning to read music and ensemble skills. Led by Emily Sunderman.

Dates: Fridays: 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14 (6 classes)

Fall Youth Chorus

A fun chorus experience for young people ages 9-13, grades 4-8.  If you have a child who loves to sing or wants to learn how to make music using their voice in the company of friends, this class is for you. Led by Ali Gibson.

Synth Lessons

This class starts from the ground up, learning about wave shapes, harmonics and the overtone series and how understanding the guts of a synthesizer can teach us more about how we hear and think about music, recording, and the world around us. Led by Adam Schatz

Introduction to Music Theory for Adults

This course is designed for adult learners to develop and apply music theory skills for analyzing music and/or for songwriting. Led by Sarah Trouslard.

Time: 1-1:45 pm

Prerequisites: 18+, basic music reading skills

Holiday Youth Chorus

A fun chorus experience for young people ages 9-13, grades 4-8.  If you have a child who loves to sing or wants to learn how to make music using their voice in the company of friends, this class is for you. Holiday and Solstice-themed music will be introduced. Led by Ali Gibson.

Dates: Thursdays 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/19 (5 classes) + post class performance on 12/19
Time: Thursdays 5:15-7 pm; Dec. 5 class will be 5:30 - 7 pm; Dec. 19 class will be followed by an information concert from 7-8pm

Ukulele jam for adults

Join Ukulele Jam to learn the basics of the ukulele and have fun playing with fellow musicians. All levels are welcome from complete beginners to seasoned players. Bring your ukulele if you have one, or borrow one from us. Led by Rodrigo Placencia.

Prerequisites: 18+, no experience necessary

Beginner Fiddle Class

This four-class workshop will explore how fiddling is different from classical playing, typical fiddling bowing, drones, double stops, and much more! Led by Vermont violinist / fiddler David Gusakov (VSO)

Prerequisites: Participants should have experience playing for at least a year and/or be in Suzuki, book 2, and have at least basic music reading ability.
