Music Theory for Adults

Group class dates for 2024-25

Session 1
Time: Thursdays, 1–1:45 pm
Date: 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21 (6 sessions)

Location: At MCMC in person and Zoom option available.

Instructor: Sarah Trouslard

This course is designed for adult learners to develop and apply music theory skills for analyzing music and/or for songwriting. We will cover intervals, scales, the circle of fifths, how to build triads and seventh chords and explore chord progressions and chord functions. Assignments will provide opportunities to apply theoretical concepts. Access to a keyboard or piano is recommended. Prerequisites: We will be drawing from popular music rep and classical music for this class.  Ages 18+, Basic music reading skills. 

Tuition: $150, there is also a one-time $45 enrollment fee, if you are new to the MCMC community.
