An invigorating camp experience for young musicians interested in learning jazz.
At Middlebury Community Music Center’s celebrated Jazz camp, students have the opportunity to learn and play the standard repertoire of jazz in ensembles with peers and faculty. Students have the opportunity to improve their ensemble playing skills, including blending tone, integrating rhythm, matching pitch, and balancing volume. There is also ample time dedication to honing improvisational skills. The week ends with a dynamic jazz performance.
Prerequisites: A basic understanding of scales and a basic understanding of reading music. Students must submit to MCMC the instrument they wish to play at camp ahead of time.
Audition Requirements: If you are a returning camper, you do not need to re-audition for camp. If this is your first year in this camp, we ask that you audition. Audition details here.
